Is Girlfriend GPT legit? What to know before you subscribe

By the Nightcap Reviews team · Updated

Short answer: GirlfriendGPT is a real AI companion and role-play service for adults 18+, run by a registered company. You're chatting with AI characters, not real people. Before you pay, know three things: the free tier is very limited, paid plans have a strict no-refund policy, and its privacy policy says it usually keeps your personal information for six years after you close your account.

How we wrote this. This review is based on GirlfriendGPT's terms of use and privacy policy (read October 2026) and third-party pricing reports. We haven't finished our own hands-on test yet, so there's no score. Several unrelated apps use similar names, so check that the site you land on is the one described here.

Quick facts

Girlfriend GPT quick facts
What it isA web-based AI chat service where you create or pick characters and chat or role-play with them
Run byNextDay AI Incorporated (Montreal, Canada), with US and EU subsidiaries, according to its terms
Free tierIts terms give free users a small allowance, such as 10 to 20 messages in total, plus 2 or 3 characters
BillingThrough the website and payment processors such as CCBill and TrustPay, not the Apple or Google app stores
RefundsNo refunds on paid subscriptions, except where the company made a mistake or there was a technical problem

What it costs

GirlfriendGPT doesn't show a simple public price page, so check prices inside your account. Third-party sites in 2026 report monthly plans of about $15 (Premium), $35 (Deluxe) and $50 (Elite), with discounts for paying a year up front (about $144, $294 and $396 a year). Plans include a monthly allowance of message credits; the terms mention 5,000 to 20,000 a month depending on the tier.

Privacy: the part most people skip

  • Your chats are stored. What you type is account content held by the company. Don't share your real name, address, workplace, face photos or anything you'd hate to see leaked.
  • Long retention. The privacy policy says the company usually keeps personal information for six years after your account closes. Deleting the account doesn't mean the data disappears straight away.
  • Separate email. Sign up with an email address you use only for this kind of service.

What's reassuring

  • A named operator with published terms, a refund policy and a privacy policy.
  • You can try a small number of messages for free before paying.
  • You can cancel online from the Manage Subscription page, and the terms say you'll get an email confirmation.

How to cancel GirlfriendGPT

  1. Check your receipt email to see who took the payment.
  2. Paid on the site: open your account's Manage subscription page and cancel before the next billing date.
  3. Paid through CCBill: sign in at CCBill's consumer support site, open the Billing tab, find the GirlfriendGPT subscription and click Cancel Subscription.
  4. Keep the confirmation email. Uninstalling a home-screen app does nothing to billing.

The terms say a cancellation made after a new billing cycle has started takes effect at the end of that cycle, so cancel a day or two early.

Our take so far

Legit, with clear (if strict) terms. Try the free messages first, choose monthly over annual until you're sure, and treat everything you type as something a company will keep for years.
